Since 1971, Dale Hicks and Associates has been building some of the finest homes in the greater St. Louis area.  In 2002, DHA left the conventional framing method of construction in favor of Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF).  Our ICF walls have been used as frost walls for room additions, complete foundations, above-grade exterior walls, safe rooms, load bearing partition walls, and retaining walls.  Our range of ICF experience qualifies us as Insulated Concrete Form experts.

Insulated Concrete Forms are not a new invention.  They have been in the United States for decades and have been used in Europe before that.  Depending on the block manufacturer, ICFs will have either an NES report, ICC Legacy report, or UL listing.  Nearly all blocks are fully accepted by all major code bodies in the US.  These forms show so much promise, the NAHB has devoted the resources to form an entire council body dedicated to ICFs.  Simply put, ICF blocks are expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels connected by furring strips.  Steel reinforcement is placed prior to concrete placement between the EPS panels.  The blocks stay in place after the concrete is poured to function as insulation.  The furring strips allow the use of virtually any interior or exterior finish materials to provide the look you want to achieve.

Our pursuit of the highest quality building materials did not stop with Insulated Concrete Forms.  We routinely frame interior walls with steel members eliminating any concerns related to termites and mold.  We typically hang our floors from inside the ICF envelope using cold rolled steel joists and saddle hangers for any required I-beams.  When you step in one of our basements, the most commonly noticed item is the lack of ceiling soffits to hide ducts, wiring, plumbing, and steel structure.

Our skills do not end with the construction of homes.  Over the years, we have designed and built bridges, barns, and commercial structures as well.  Our in-house engineers are capable of designing virtually any structure you require.  Furthermore, our engineers will be on site frequently to ensure design elements are constructed properly.
